THE REVIEW

My brother is a Marvel movie enthusiast and I can understand him. After a hectic week of work, he wants to disconnect his brain for a couple of hours and watch a film that makes him smile for its story and impresses with its special effects. Punctually, with a 32-tooth smile, he suggests watching Ghost Rider, just picked up from Blockbuster.

I've seen almost all the Marvel releases, kindly provided by my brother, and I have to admit that Ghost Rider can compete for the title of the worst I've ever seen. Even more horrifying than "The Fantastic Four": tacky to the core in the story, acted atrociously, with mediocre special effects compared to other Marvel releases, this film is a total mess. Nicholas one-expression Cage managed to fulfill his dream of playing a superhero in a movie, but his performance doesn't make an impact. In the cast among others Wesley Cook Bentley (American Beauty), Peter Fonda (Easy Rider among others), and Eva Mendes (Training Day).

Simply embarrassing dialogues, fight scenes reduced to the bare minimum possibly due to budget constraints. The atmosphere in the cinematic adaptation of an extremely gothic and dark comic is one of farce, of ridicule: the tension borders on absolute zero.

Mark Johnson had already done a mediocre job with Daredevil, and in this Ghost Rider, he surpasses himself significantly, in a negative way. Minimal review, in line with the absolute mediocrity of the film.
