Mark Farina is a DJ known especially in America, his homeland... He is renowned for a series of episodic mixes called "Mushroom Jazz"; however, what I am going to review is his musical "experiment" which is far beyond simply mixing tracks fancifully and excellently.

"Where is the airport?" is the first question to ask when you want to embark on a long journey... "this conversation was recorded during 15 hours of flight, then edited and rearranged to serve as an aid in maximizing radio skills..."
After taking a seat and gaining awareness, here comes the "Take Off" that opens this CD of pure alchemical house experimentalism (in the sense of "homemade").
Funky breaks and a jazzy house initially "heavy" and "edgy" which you have to let flow to understand the sophistication behind the "rhythmic and melodic" pounding sound that Mark creates.
The stylish DJ, along with the onboard assistant and control tower, directs this flight towards different shores, "Out of tune", exotic, sassy... unfasten your seatbelts and start dancing.

This record is to be commended above all because it was created entirely and with good results by a pure DJ, who surely eats lots of little mushrooms, but which in my opinion does him a lot of good ;)... A record that strays from the usual mixing but proposes something psychedelically focused and trippy...
In conclusion, you would have to be truly incompatible with the genre or too traditionalist not to enjoy it... Byez
