docta ignoràntia ...I notice that there's been very little discussion on the website about the new thrash metal wave that's been diversifying the global scene in recent years. There have been reviews that praised the technical qualities more than the compositional ones of these young talents, such as Toxic Holocaust, Warbringer... However, many debaserian listeners of the genre have shown little foresight in this regard:
Members:
Adam Haritan
Ben Mottsman
Dan Wetmore
Jeff Potts
Mantic Ritual is a thrash metal quartet from Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania). The band formed in 2004, initially under the name Meltdown. After the addition of guitarist Jeff Potts, they decided to change their name to avoid confusion with other known bands, choosing Mantic Ritual. "Ritual Prophecy."
Noticed in 2007 by the German giant Nuclear Blast Records, they released their debut album in Europe in February 2009 "Executioner" (I’ll spare you the details of the U.S. release under the name Meltdown), which is considered the 'forefront' of modern old-school thrash metal, alliteration allowed.
Furthermore, by the end of 2008, the guys did not fail to show their talent by kicking off various 'National tours' alongside bands of the caliber of Rotting Christ and Destruction.
The album in question is not the usual carbon copy ab uno disce omnes of the giants of the genre like Slayer, Sepultura, Testament, or Death Angel. The guys, given their age, cannot help but be influenced by them, yet they present technical qualities and compositional maturity worthy of their predecessors.
Analyzing the album in question, it is technical and sharp like a razor cut on the Achilles tendon while you're trying to escape from a madman with a sawed-off shotgun!!!! DAMN what a simile.. let's be serious, the album revolves around a pseudo-80s thrash-metal scenario but is wrapped in a new verve, new original and powerful riffs.
The guys don’t fail to amaze with splendid tracks like One By One, Death and Destruction, Black for Sin and Panic. Although it is a thrash metal album, it manages to be varied in its structures and themes, presenting itself as extremely aggressive and pounding, all without 'stupefying' or boring, and this is to the praise of the 4 'brats'.
It's pointless to waste more words over an excellent product that emerges like the tip of an iceberg in the monotony of your bathtub when you come home from work and try to relax. Today I'm in a metaphor mood!... As previously stated, these guys will be the new heights of this 'genre', a little retro but at the same time new and revised through the eyes of these talents.
In short, nothing's changed, damn those who complain!
Best regards.
