"Vredens Tid", a wonderful extract from the discography of Månegarm, one of the best Folk/Black/Viking Metal bands; 11 tracks with a total length of 50:08 minutes, in this entirely Swedish Full-Length album, released by "Regain Records" on September 28th, 2005.
It starts with the short intro "Vid Hargen", followed by the very rhythmic and powerful "Sirgblot", for which a video was also made; Then come the pleasant, though not transcendental, "Skymningsresa" and "Kolöga Trolltand", leading to the album's most epic, powerful, and grandiose track, not to mention one of the group's most beautiful compositions: "Dödens Strand", which truly knows how to infuse the power it unleashes; there is then an interlude, "Preludium", completely instrumental, where you can hear the sounds of a battle, leading to the title track, the beautiful "Vredens Tid", followed by the short "Svunna Minen". Then comes "Frekastein", which then has to give way to the perhaps less epic (compared to Dödens Strand) but more tied to Nordic myths "Hemfärd", a track that exudes power and truly conveys emotions, with music that is nothing short of wonderful and fantastic vocals. "Segervisa" closes the album.
I am enthralled by this album, I have literally fallen in love with it, as it is one of the most beautiful and epic musical expressions on the market for many years. Original, yet without veering into madness, traditional, but without being boring and repetitive. Perfect alchemy between every instrument and excellent vocals. The singing in Swedish adds that "Viking" touch that makes it perfect.
In short, not listening to this album would be a crime; it is truly captivating, exciting, powerful in every facet. I highly recommend it not only to those who love metal but to anyone who understands and appreciates good music, especially because this album is full of passion, and that’s what matters.
