The Profile

Malevolent Creation are an American death metal band formed in Buffalo, New York in 1987 and later based in Florida. Their debut, The Ten Commandments (1991), helped define early U.S. death metal with thrash-tinged ferocity. Across decades and line-up shifts, they remained relentless, releasing Dead Man’s Path (2015) and The 13th Beast (2019).

Formed in Buffalo (1987) and moved to Florida; early albums produced by Scott Burns; The Ten Commandments cover by Dan Seagrave; early releases on Roadrunner Records; later signed to Nuclear Blast; founding guitarist Phil Fasciana; original vocalist Brett Hoffmann (1967–2018).

Malevolent Creation emerge from Buffalo and plant their flag in Florida’s death metal pantheon. Reviews hail the debut’s raw, thrash-tinged assault, the razor-tight ferocity of Retribution, and the bludgeoning weight of Stillborn and The Fine Art of Murder. Production lore (Scott Burns) and iconic artwork (Dan Seagrave) surface repeatedly. Overall verdict: classic, uncompromising, and essential.
