Not an instant demise. The one caused by the Makajodama is a sadistic death, which only wounds with its worn-out scythe, leaving the rest of the work to bleeding out and spasms, in a harrowing process reminiscent of the agony of the wise centaur Chiron, accidentally scratched by a poisoned arrow of his friend Heracles, and condemned by his own immortality to wander in search of a method to end his life and thus free himself from the maddening pain.
