Horace Walpole

Son of the English Prime Minister Sir Robert Walpole, Horace Walpole (1717-1797) had a respectable political career as a member of Parliament, thanks to his father. However, he is primarily remembered as a writer, known for being the initiator of the Gothic genre with his debut work "The Castle of Otranto."

Horace Walpole
