Jaco Pastorius

Overflowing personality, great composer and arranger, he has managed to embody with extreme naturalness the prototype of a 360° musician. The warm and unmistakable voice of his jazz fretless bass has been his mantra. Through a soloistic approach, he has perhaps reformulated more than anyone else the ABCs of an instrument that, thanks to him, gains melodic and counter-melodic functions. Jaco Pastorius

Jaco Pastorius (John Francis Pastorius III) was an American bassist and composer widely credited with revolutionizing the electric (notably fretless) bass in jazz and jazz fusion. He released his influential self-titled debut in 1976, led projects such as Word of Mouth, and was associated with Weather Report. He died in 1987.
