Marcel Duchamp

Marcel Duchamp (1887–1968) was a French-American artist central to Dada and conceptual art, known for his readymades like Fountain and for Nude Descending a Staircase, No. 2. He challenged ‘retinal’ art, explored chance, and later pursued chess alongside art.
