William Hope Hodgson

William Hope Hodgson (1877–1918) was a British author of weird and cosmic horror noted for sea tales and visionary novels such as The House on the Borderland and The Night Land. A former sailor, he created the occult detective Carnacki and heavily influenced H. P. Lovecraft. He was killed in action during World War I.
