This sublime singer-songwriter and musician, this gentleman in blue jeans manages to be a meticulous poet without too many frills, to be refined and cultured without being overly elitist-redundant, without pulling the plug too much; he is also able to be rock without making too much noise. This gentleman is able to be, as well, mainstream without being pop. For himself and for those who have interpreted him.

Ivano Fossati

Ivano Fossati is an Italian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Genoa, frequently described in these reviews as cultured, refined, and restlessly experimental. Reviewers trace a path from early prog/rock roots (including Delirium) through a piano-centered period and into later albums marked by “wise simplicity,” with recurring attention to travel/sea imagery, sophisticated arrangements, and high-level lyric writing.
