Surely it can't be considered among the greatest, but it's not that bad either. Quite commercial, but not unworthy.

Umberto Tozzi

Umberto Tozzi is an Italian singer-songwriter from Turin, active since the 1970s. He broke through with Ti amo (1977), Tu (1978) and Gloria (1979), often working with lyricist Giancarlo Bigazzi. Gloria later became an international hit via Laura Branigan’s cover. In 1987 he performed at Eurovision with Raf on Gente di mare.
