Fabulous point. They could have continued to make a mess (a great mess!) like in the early days and be one of the many great bands of the British Invasion. But the boys were different, a unique band thanks to that wonderful storyteller, Ray. Their internal affairs were an epic tale, with the stormy (but truly loving) relationship between the cursed Dave, a womanizer and a mess, and the absolute despot Ray, the creator of unparalleled greatness. They managed to pair delightfully sad albums telling us about old England with raucous and fiery performances. "My brother is a big jerk," but only I can tell him that.

The Kinks

The Kinks were an English rock band formed in London in the early 1960s, closely associated with the British Invasion. Their songwriting is strongly identified with Ray Davies’ character-driven narratives and social observation, alongside Dave Davies’ guitar-driven early sound.
