Elliott Carter

One of the greatest American modernist composers of the last century (even though he composed a lot of music in the years following 2000, well into his 90s), music that is quite challenging, yet very personal and intriguing. It deserves a listen.

Elliott Carter

Elliott Carter (1908–2012) was an American composer and a leading figure of modernist music, renowned for rhythmic complexity, metric modulation, and landmark string quartets and orchestral scores. He received two Pulitzer Prizes.
