The chameleons of progressive rock, capable of evolving from a seminal debut ("In The Court Of The Crimson King") to a "trilogy" of albums marked by experimentation (primarily jazz) ("In The Wake Of Poseidon," "Lizard," "Islands"), smoothing out and refining their sound during the golden triennium of Wetton-Fripp-Bruford ("Larks' Tongues In Aspic," "Starless And The Bible Black" and especially "Red," their greatest demonstration of maturity), returning in 1981 with a prog-new wave masterpiece ("Discipline"), all the way to the modernization of their sound, without falling into the commercial and without contaminating the progressive spirit that has been spreading since 1969... I believe that's enough to place them among the top 5 bands of all time... thank you very much, King Crimson...
