Marley was the official disseminator of reggae and Rastafarian culture. Often boring and repetitive, never an innovator or a genius, Marley stole riffs, arrangements, and melodies from all commercial genres, both white and black, from spiritual to Tin Pan Alley. Camouflaged as music of the Third World underclass, it was actually just dance music for American teenagers, and its author a late, aspiring, and superficial hippie. (SCARUFFI)
