Fabulous singer of the wrong side of the street, worthy son of the Beat Generation and true heir to the ghost of Louis Armstrong. In short, "Small Change," "Blue Valentine," "Swordfishtrombones," and "Rain Dogs" are a quartet of masterpieces. And to think that until a little while ago my favorite was "Closing Time."
