who knows if instead of slicing off his fingertips in the cutter, he could have just tuned the guitar strings down a semitone and thus created that unique sound, ancestor of future styles. who knows, maybe the entire future metal and doom scene wouldn't have existed, and metal bands would have jumped into punk...
