a term invented to define the tactile sensation opposite to heat. During cold, one can feel discomfort; the molecules tend to remain still, unlike in heat where they are excited and collide, creating warmth. It is measured by the expansion of various materials. However, this only applies on our planet, as in space ice can boil!
