Opal

Mazzy Star, as much as I liked them ("So Tonight That I Might See" is beautiful), seem almost like "little things" compared to a fucking masterpiece like "Happy Nightmare Baby," ultra-acid/paisley garage rock/call it whatever you want, but it's a masterpiece like few. And the collection of "leftovers" that came out afterward, "Early Recordings," is a masterpiece in the same way, despite being outtakes! Much quieter, dreamier, just as "acidic" and floating... May Satan have them in glory.

Opal

Formed in Los Angeles in 1983 by David Roback and Kendra Smith, Opal recorded the LP Happy Nightmare Baby and earlier EP material collected on Early Recordings; the band emerged from the Paisley Underground scene.
