Wayne Shorter

Wayne Shorter (1933–2023) was an American jazz saxophonist and composer, a key figure in post-bop and fusion. He rose with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, became a pillar of Miles Davis’s Second Great Quintet, and later co-founded Weather Report. Shorter’s compositions and recordings earned multiple Grammy Awards and enduring influence.
