He is among the greatest of all time. Perhaps in the top 5. Consider that during filming, he wouldn't even stand behind the camera to position the actors; he did it by eye. His eye was the camera. He drew the storyboards himself and never deviated from them. Every drawing had to be reproduced exactly as he conceived it.
