Genesis

Excellent progressive rock band in the '70s, great pop rock group in the '80s. They were ruthlessly slaughtered by critics for trying to reinvent themselves and create a different sound throughout the '80s (with all the ups and downs that this entailed), but if they had continued making progressive music with Peter Gabriel, they would have been equally targeted for being outdated and anachronistic. The best nevertheless :-)

English rock band formed in 1967, celebrated for landmark early-1970s progressive albums (Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound, The Lamb) and a later, more pop-oriented phase led commercially by Phil Collins.
