Afro-urban music describable with two adjectives typical of electronic music; trance, due to the psychical state it induces, and glitch, due to the rough, metallic, and dirty sound resulting from the sound equipment used. A space-time bridge between the African village and the filthy suburbs of the metropolises.

Konono Nº1

A Congolese collective led by Mingiedi, Konono Nº1 became known for amplifying the likembé with homemade pickups and scrap materials, creating a raw, trance-like hybrid of traditional rhythms and industrial/electronic textures. Their album Congotronics brought international attention.
