Regarding NON-genres: Stoner. Unlike doom, which is a musical style, stoner originated as a sonic approach that later became a stylistic one. For example, the Wo Fat have candidly admitted to playing "stoner" and being inspired by a "stoner" band like Fu Manchu. Essentially, they didn’t go back to the source; they went straight to the water bottle factory. Like them, many others.

Wo Fat is a Dallas, Texas stoner/psychedelic rock trio formed in 2003, known for fuzz-drenched riffs, blues-soaked jams, and expansive, improvisation-friendly songs. Key releases include Psychedelonaut (2009), Noche del Chupacabra (2011), The Black Code (2012), The Conjuring (2014), Midnight Cometh (2016), and The Singularity (2023).
