Death

They practically invented a genre, the sound of perseverance, one of the peaks of metal as a whole. The guitar influence of Chuck Schuldiner in metal is perhaps only second to that of Tony Iommi and James Hetfield. It's unfortunate for the earlier albums that aren't quite as great as those that would come, but their history has been one of continuous growth, culminating in fact with the sound of perseverance.

American death metal band founded and led by Chuck Schuldiner, widely regarded as a pioneering and highly influential act in death metal. Active primarily from 1983 until 2001; Schuldiner died in 2001.
