"Rome, Open City" one of the greatest films of all time. Then "Paisà" and the trilogy "Stromboli," "Europa '51," and "Journey to Italy," featuring an extraordinary Ingrid Bergman. It heavily influenced the entire French Nouvelle Vague and certainly the New Hollywood cinema (read Martin Scorsese). If he doesn’t deserve an honored place in the history of cinema, who does?
