The "against nature" par excellence of American pop-rock. Donald Fagen and Walter Becker managed, like no one else in the US during the '70s (perhaps with the exception of Ron and Russell Mael of Sparks), to blend a radio-friendly pop-rock-jazz mix with a venomous satire of the American way of life. Over the years, they have increasingly refined their sound, enlisting only the excellence of session musicians while paying a price to the cult of the most crystalline sound purity.
