probably the greatest writer of all time. his mischievous irony, perfectly expressed in the "Decameron," is as contemporary as it gets. he anticipated humanism by 150/200 years; from this perspective, one can confidently assert Boccaccio's superiority over Dante who, despite everything, remains a medieval moralist. Boccaccio, on the other hand, was a visionary and far-sighted genius. and his anticlericalism is truly delightful.
