Being put in charge of a country without being elected is the personification of the crisis of our politics, if not of democracy itself. This reminds me of a guy who rose to prominence almost 90 years ago, with the difference that the Prof. seems to have a fixed-term contract. They put him in the role of executioner, and he’s doing it.
