The Beatles

It's absurd to cite the 20-minute suites of pure noise/clanging/dissonance to prove that the Beatles are overrated. The greatness of a band doesn't lie in inventing a new language. But in conveying new messages in a shared language. While many revolutionary bands delivered new messages in an unintelligible language (good only for snobs who, at all costs, need to feel alternative), the Beatles managed to bring the same message in a language understandable to all.
