He hasn't invented anything, except for David Bowie and his music (and that's no small feat). The extraordinary thing is that he didn't limit himself to inventing just once; from the late 60s to today, he has changed countless times while always remaining true to himself, moving from beat to trip-hop. Forty years have been traversed by his androgynous smile, reminiscent of a millennia-old sphinx.

David Bowie

David Bowie (David Robert Jones) was an English singer, songwriter and actor famed for continual reinvention and theatrical personas. A pivotal figure in glam rock, he later shaped art-rock and electronic music with the Berlin Trilogy (with Brian Eno and Tony Visconti). His final album, Blackstar, appeared in 2016 shortly before his death.
