Falco

Falco (Johann Hölzel) was an Austrian singer-rapper and a leading figure of the Neue Deutsche Welle. He scored global hits with Der Kommissar (1982) and Rock Me Amadeus, the latter reaching No. 1 in the U.S. in 1986. Known for a mix of synth-pop, rap, and sharp irony, he courted controversy with the Jeanny saga, returned locally with Nachtflug (1992), and died in a car crash in the Dominican Republic in 1998.
