@19lunghezze: it's not just that music is all about power and speed, your comment is quite simplistic, if I may say so. There can be incredibly virtuosic guitarists who then play terrible pieces, just to make an example.
Anyway, in my opinion, one of the greatest geniuses of Italian music, we should be proud of him. Few like him have ventured into various and very different musical genres, always achieving, sometimes more, sometimes less, excellent results. I particularly appreciate Pollution and Fetus by him.

Italian singer-songwriter and composer from Sicily, Battiato moved from 1970s electronic/progressive experimentation to chart-topping pop with La voce del padrone, and later to spiritual, orchestral and operatic works. He frequently collaborated with arranger Giusto Pio and philosopher Manlio Sgalambro.
