Amy Winehouse

I know practically nothing about her, and I have never listened to one of her songs in full, so I am not able to provide a definition of her work. But today, from the images of her funeral, it became clear to me that the tears of her parents were tears like those of any other parent who outlives their children, and I felt a deep sadness.

English singer‑songwriter from London known for a deep contralto and a blend of soul, R&B and jazz. Broke through with Frank (2003) and the globally successful Back to Black (2006). Won five Grammy Awards in 2008, including Record and Song of the Year for Rehab. Died in 2011.
