Metallica

The first 3 albums were inspired and revolutionary, peaking with MOP. Afterwards, their creativity was distracted by success. Great albums as well are AJFA and Metallica, but from there on it was bad, bad, bad. Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets will always remain in the top 10/20 metal albums, despite everything.

They rose from the Bay Area thrash scene with early albums like Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning, achieved mainstream success with 1991's Metallica (The Black Album), and have released a long-running and often debated catalog since.
