Herschell Gordon Lewis

American filmmaker (1926, Pennsylvania – 2016, Florida), dubbed the “Godfather of Gore.” A pioneer of splatter cinema, he launched the Blood Trilogy with Blood Feast (1963), Two Thousand Maniacs! (1964), and Color Me Blood Red (1965). He often composed music for his films and remained a cult figure of 1960s exploitation horror.
