Saddam Hussein

The process he underwent for having eliminated Shiite and Kurdish insurgents was a farce (the Turks and the Americans did exactly the same thing). His deposition was a gift to Iran and extremist Salafist groups, and a death blow to the Christian community, now persecuted and decimated. Without him, Iraq is now a sort of Middle Eastern Bosnia, lacking security and at high risk of civil war.
