Apparently, it seemed he had no talent at all until 1936. Just the year before, Charlie Patton, Willie Brown, and Son House, one evening when they had had a bit too much to drink, had mocked him so harshly that they forced him to leave their area. But when he returned after a few months and began to play that very particular bass line that a fellow he had met at a crossroads taught him, they no longer laughed.

Robert Johnson

American Delta blues singer, guitarist and songwriter (born 1911, died 1938). He recorded 29 songs in 1936–1937 and became one of the most influential figures in blues and rock.
