Able to reinvent themselves with each album, always careful to avoid any technical showmanship for its own sake, along with Queensrÿche, and partly Savatage, should be considered the fathers of progressive metal. Their influence, still relevant today, is certainly far more important than their fame among the general public, and they will age much better than many more renowned peers.
