It’s hard to judge the monumental work of an artist often teetering between experimentation and banality. For this reason, I’m convinced that many who quote him haven’t listened to him seriously, and many who do listen to him seriously struggle to truly understand him. All the others, to avoid misunderstandings, prefer to speak well of him.
