Tim Burton

Skilled storyteller of fairy tales with a visionary and dark touch, whether they are comedies ("Beetlejuice") or dramatic films ("Edward Scissorhands"). Some of his "freaks" remain unforgettable characters. Perhaps he has always lacked a masterpiece with a capital M, but he has certainly made quite a few good films (with ups and downs). For some years now, he's been brewing something. Ah, his influence in "The Nightmare Before Christmas" is unmistakable, and that, indeed, is a masterpiece.
