To put it in his own words: "being in AC/DC was a hell of a stroke of luck," what prevailed was the bloodiness of his character, he fit perfectly with the other members. For the first albums, he was absolutely up to the task of his extremely heavy role, then he faded away, losing a large part of his voice, but he remains an excellent substitute for the incomparable Bon Scott.
