The work of re-presentation by Zoharum of old, now almost unobtainable material from the legendary Maeror Tri continues, a mythical German ambient industrial project that, between the late '80s and the '90s, literally worked in the shadows creating metaphysical and subliminal sound architectures that truly created an alien sound universe. The creation of Stefan Knappe has, in a certain sense, made the lesson of the darkest and most abrasive industrial its own, without forgetting the great tradition of the glorious German Cosmic Music: something similar was done in the same period by fellow countrymen Cranioclast. This time, the exhumation work of tapes released in ultra-limited editions has focused on Hypnobasia: this is the fifth album by Maeror Tri originally published by the commendable Italian label Old Europa Cafe in 1992 on C45 and then reissued by the same label on CDR in 300 copies in 2005. The old tape has been completely remastered by Zoharum. Hypnobasia originally included 5 tracks highlighting both the more experimental and explosive soul of Maeror Tri, made up of dark dissonances, metallic clangs, and distortions difficult to decipher, and their more dreamy, ambient, and minimalistic side. Thus, after the first 3 tracks in the vein of dark industrial such as “Vermis”, “Drowning Into Hatred”, and “Tormentum”, we can listen to “Athanot”, the “transcendent” side of this enigmatic project which drags us into an almost mystical dimension, putting us in touch with our most hidden selves. The closing “Nuntius” is instead characterized by dark-industrial environments. However, in this new reissue, 3 bonus tracks from the period 1989-1992, originally only released on cassette compilations, have been added: it is fortunate that material destined for oblivion has been recovered and has lost none of its timeless value over time.
