Rating: A few days ago, I listened again to this work, dated 1999, with a homemade feel and genuine lyrics echoing intense emotions. The voice of Raffaella Destefano warms the excellent bases of Gino Marcelli, who, between synth and computer, manages to blend the gentle sounds of an acoustic guitar with stronger ones dominated by bass and percussion.
In each track, the sense of autonomy linked to the inner strength of every individual shines through. Thanks to it, we manage to respect ourselves and face life's problems by sharing universal, timeless sensations.
It then feels natural to blossom a continuously different need, from condemning the surrounding reality (“Nuda”) to resizing a recently ended love story (“Certamente”), from challenging oneself at all costs (“Necessità”) to rediscovering oneself (“La vera entità”).
Worth highlighting is the “ghost track”: a rearrangement of “Ma perchè”, already included in the previous “Prima dell’alba” in a touching voice and piano version.
I remember being pleasantly surprised by the launch single “Reiko” and only the following year I managed to find the album for rent (those were the days).
Even today, I thank the Milanese duo for blending poetry and innovation, giving birth to enveloping and, most of the time, singable songs.
