Even in times of crisis, Lady Ciccone, Madonna, at 55 years old, continues to sell records, surprise fans (for better or worse), and keep people talking about her.
"Mdna tour live" (not only on audio CD but also on DVD - of course) celebrates what was one of the most profitable and followed tours of the queen of pop. Under the Interscope Records label, with a minimal cover (just Madonna's face in extreme close-up) and the writing MDNA, but so many songs and hits that have made history: from the mega success of "Mdna", "Girl Gone Wild", to "Revolver" (2009), "Gang Bang" (Mdna), and returning to songs like "Papa Don't Preach", "Vogue", "Human Nature", and "Like a Virgin" (early Madonna); "Hung Up" from 2006 is renewed in a less glam and dance version, more pop, while "Like a Prayer" is exalted in a final ovation and standing ovation. Fantastic performances also for "I'm a Sinner", "Celebration", and "Addicted".
In short, there's everything, but not a hodgepodge anyway, everything well curated (as it should be). In "Give Me All Your Luvin'", the single that launched the album "Mdna", Madonna plays the bad girl; she even goes head to head with Lady Gaga through songs (scary, huh!): and besides a beautiful live performance of "Express Yourself" (hers for 25 years now), she sings "Born This Way by Gaga" (they really sound the same)! To then end with that "She's Not Me" that means: I am Madonna, the real undisputed queen of pop.
If this weren't enough, go watch the DVD: a goosebump-inducing show, with many costume changes, excellent scenography, and ultra-modern choreography.
In short, I don't know how she'll do it for the next album, what she'll come up with, but I really like this Madonna.
Score 9 out of 10........
