Being a child of art, as we know, is a challenging situation. It becomes almost overwhelming if you carry a surname like "De André" and you are the child of the famous Fabrizio. Naturally, no one expects an heir of the predecessor's caliber, yet starting a career with such a (last) name is not easy.
It should be noted that in the creation of this album, there is an artistic (as well as emotional, for gossip's sake) collaboration between two children of art: our Luvi, in fact, is the life partner of Claudio Fossati, son of the famous Ivano and author of most of the album's lyrics. Yes, because it's important to highlight that Luvi De André is "simply" an interpreter in this case, of rock ballads of good musical quality with electric hues and interesting lyrics that are at least different from the usual romantic serenades. She is also an interpreter endowed with a beautiful voice, powerful and clean at the same time, like few in Italian pop music.
Listening to the CD, one immediately comes across the first single released: "Oggi domani"; used as the album's launch piece, it is perhaps the most energetic episode from a musical standpoint, with a self-accusatory text ("io sono un uomo che si nasconde"), a theme that often recurs in other tracks, such as in the excellent title track "Io non sono innocente". Worth mentioning also is the second single "Lentamente".
The following tracks are beautiful pop-rock ballads, with some electric guitar peeking through at times and with lyrics that, while not entirely innovative, are always well-written. And perhaps it is the lyrics that keep the CD at an acceptable level, as musically it suffers from a certain repetitiveness. The pieces often resemble each other, even though the quality remains consistently good. The album is pervaded by a very intense melancholy atmosphere that at times turns into anger while at other times gives way to resignation.
In short, one can afford a listen (or perhaps more than one) to the debuting child of art, maybe when you feel like thinking but also singing…
