Growing Seeds and Perfect View, the two albums preceding the one I'll review, are rich in a gothic and tense atmosphere, a warm romanticism in its synthesized coldness.

International loses the little that Lust For Youth had of alternative and low fidelity to dedicate itself to a mixture of new romantic and Italo disco. Songs like Epoetin Alfa, Armida and especially the very lively New Boys, push the hips toward the dance floor, always leaving that bitterness and nostalgia typical of Italo Disco; side note: songs like Tarzan Boy or Boys Boys Boys, but also Vamos A La Playa and almost the entire repertoire and musical projects of Giorgio Moroder, play between the carefree nature and sunlight of the '80s but focus on harsh sounds, not always as cheerful as one might expect. In short, those songs are still remembered today, not for the indifferent Italian mentality, but for the bitter feeling they convey.

Then almost surprisingly arrives Lungomare: we know the past of Lust For Youth, they even released their first work with the Italian label Avant!, nothing unknown. Lungomare plays between typical '80s sounds with a taste towards Offlaga Disco Pax, at least to my ears, with this girl who tells a story that can completely summarize the album, the Danish music scene, and all today’s music, in Italian:

-"Everyone came to the festival, Some in extravagant costumes, Others in their finest clothes, They were all there to celebrate youth. The sons of Tallinn, the sons of Tel Aviv, Heat chills float through the streets, Forming waves, Like dreams never realized. Melancholy, Throughout the entire celebration time, It was like that for everyone, But no one expected it."-

So it is not the celebration of youth that becomes the celebration of boredom and nostalgia, the temporal rather than spatial nostalgia. Everything from that song onward, at least for us Italians who can grasp it, becomes suspended and travels toward distant times, toward gray episodes of our memory. An album that cannot leave one indifferent after its passing.
