Amazing concert. In the photo, Britta Phillips and Dean Wareham are singing "Bonnie and Clyde", a cover of the song originally sung by Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot (!). The audience (and ehmm... us) screams the "uh-hu" of the original song. Goosebumps. The place isn't full, even though it's small... tough life. But we push forward and we are in the middle. They sing "Bobby Peru", from the character played by Willem Dafoe in "Wild At Heart"... "s is for sorry for all that I did, now it's the time to turn it all around... forgive me please" and the liberating solo starts, simple, effective and beautiful. Then "Superfreaky Memories", "Lovedust" from the latest one. Before the encores, they close with "It's Time to Quit". We know all the songs from the first chord. We were madly in love with Galaxie 500 and we love Luna. Then finally, what we have waited for 10 years: last song: that chord: "Tugboat" by Galaxie 500 (also performed live by Mercury Rev). But this is the original. Incredible. Now I am happy. After having seen Frank Black play the songs of the Pixies and finally hearing at least "Tugboat", I can say I've arrived. This is how all concerts should be, so that one goes to bed happy!!! Thank you. "I don't wanna stay at your party I don't wanna talk to your friends I don't wanna vote for your president I just wanna be your tugboat captain"
