THE REVIEW

On trumpet, flugelhorn, and arrangements, Luis Gasca was born in Houston in 1940, and it's a real pity that so few remember him, including Wikipedia. This is a great album, on the borders between Latin, rock, and jazz. In California during the '70s, he was very famous because his works were "bolstered" by the culture and the vibes of those years, substances included. The group is quite large, and among its ranks, we also find Joe Henderson, Stanley Clarke, Santana, and George Cables. An album that would have the flavor of Carlos if his albums had mixed a bit more with jazz, wild tensions that obediently return to the management of rhythm, influences from many genres skillfully blended. A firework that explodes in all its beauty but lasts the brief luminous time of the wow of a specific and often self-destructive period. A solid and compact album throughout its duration for a timeless classic if it hadn't been forgotten.
